NCA Rules

Addendums to NCA Rules

Addendum to 8) b) "If time runs out": If the time expires before one or multiple rounds have started, then 1 point and 0 20s will be granted to each team/player for the rounds which have not started.
Doubles Seating Order: If prior to a doubles game there is a dispute as the 2 teams try to position a particular member of their team to shoot before/after a particular member of the opposition team, and this dispute is not resolved as neither team wishes to acquiesce, then the following procedure should be taken:

  • Draw: One player from Team A grabs two discs, one of each colour, and secretly conceals one disc in their right hand, and one in their left. A member of Team B then guesses a colour and selects a hand. If the colour guessed matches the disc concealed in the hand then Team B wins the draw. Otherwise Team A wins the draw.
  • Losers of draw shall then select their 2 seats (sitting opposite each other) and their desired disc colour.
  • Winners of the draw shall then position themselves in the 2 remaining seats, and use the remaining disc colour for the game.

This procedure should be completed by the 2 teams in a timely manner and not require any intervention from the tournament director or other players.

Tiebreak Procedure

The ranking of a section of play will be determined by most points scored, or most points scored per game (in the case of unequal number of games played). Any ties will be broken as follows:
If the tied position would eliminate one or multiple players/teams from contention:

  • The tied players/teams will play a one round match (i.e. first to 2 points) where the winner earns the right to advance to the next stage
  • If more than 2 players/teams are tied then multiple tiebreaker matches may be required
  • The seeding and bracket for tiebreaker matches will be determined by the tiebreaking procedure below
  • The higher tiebreak seed gets choice of hammer/1st shot

For ties in all other positions:

  1. If a complete round-robin, most points scored in games among tied contenders
  2. If a complete round-robin, most 20s in games among tied contenders
  3. Most 20s in all games of that section of play
  4. Coin flip

Note that if the completion of any step in the tiebreaking procedure results in some ties being broken, but remaining ties still existing, then those remaining ties will be broken by immediately returning to Step 1 of the procedure.

Disputes

The tournament’s position is that proper etiquette should be displayed by all players at all times, showing ample respect for fellow players and for the rules of the event.
As such, it is the expecation of the tournament that disputes should be worked between the players at the board in a conscientious manner.
At the conclusion of a section of play any unresolved disputes can be referred to a tournament referee panel.
The referee panel shall consist of 3 people (all of whom may be players), as well as at least 4 ordered reserve slots (who may also be players) that will be called upon to fulfill the 3-person panel in case a particular dispute involves a conflict of interest among member(s) of the panel. Panel decisions will be made by majority vote. The decision of the panel will be final. The panel and reserves should be named before the tournament begins and be available at the official scoring table.

It should always be remembered that the NCA Players Championship is being exclusively organized by players who are competing in the event.
